Hawaii is such a stunning place to visit full of unique beaches with a variety of characteristics.

“Black sand beaches are fascinating. Have you ever been to a black sand beach? The sand is made of basalt and created by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools”

Top 3 beaches to visit in Maui on a 3 day trip

Waianapanapa State Park (Black Sand Beach)

While in Maui it's an absolute most that you ride the road to Hana. This black sand beach is on the road to Hana. I suggest starting your journey at Sunrise. Depending on the time of year you the timing of sunrise will defer but check your weather app and plan accordingly. If you have the time make overnight accommodations in Hana. I suggest driving back the next day so that you can make stops along the way and really enjoy the drive at the pace of your choice. There are many exciting sites to see and yummy food, coffee and fruit stands along the way. Bring cash and enjoy the ride. Waianapanapa State Park is home to several beautiful black sand beach, caves and natural arch. Black sand beaches are fascinating. Have you ever been to a black sand beach? The sand is made of basalt and created by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools. It's one of those most see phenomina's in the world that makes this a MOST see.

Hookipa Park (Sea Turtles)

Are you a wildlife fan? Maui offers a beautiful landscape filled with natural wildlife. One of my favorite sightings in Hawaii was the huge sea turtles. If you take advantage of this opportunity to see the turtles remember this, the turtles are wild. Keep your distance and allow them to bask in the sun unbothered. Hookipa Park is typically utilized by some of the world's best surfer. This beach produces some of the best waves on the island. It happens to also be one of the common resting location of the sea turtles. You are likely to see the turtles all over the island but if you choose to ride the road to Hana Hookpia is along the way.

Ukumehame Beach State Park (Sunset Lovers)

There's nothing that quite beats a beautiful sunset! Are you a sunrise or sunset type of person? I personally haven't decided yet. I have so much appreciation for the beauty of a new day, the smell, the feel and all it ya know?!. Sunrise is so fresh. Yes, I said fresh because you can smell it, call me crazy but it's a thing. Then on the other hand there's sunset, the grand finale! The "I did it", a day complete, time to let the sorrows go in the most beautiful way. Well I could go on forever about it but you get it. After a long day of travel I spent my first sunset and took a swim in the calm waters of Ukumehame Beach State Park. After a refreshing swim I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets. The truth is that there are a number of places to watch sunset but this location made the list because of it's proximity to the airport. It is less than 15 minutes away from the airport.
